David Connell is a principal for the Business Consulting Practice of Taylor English Decisions. He works with clients’ senior management to improve efficiencies and management operations, helping companies come together as a unified team rather than operating as individual silos.
Before joining Taylor English Decisions, Mr. Connell served as chief executive officer and president of the Cobb Chamber of Commerce. He was involved with the Chamber for 15 years, first as a board member, then as chairman and later as president and CEO. He guided an overhaul of the chamber’s brand, processes, programs and staff via a robust strategic planning process. Today, the Cobb Chamber is recognized as one of the most influential business organizations in Georgia; the 7th largest Chamber in the Southeastern United States with approximately 2600 separate businesses; and, a 5 Star Accredited Chamber which represents the top one percent of chambers in the U.S. as determined by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
Prior to the Cobb Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Connell completed a 40-year career at Southern Company. He served for more than 8 years as the business unit executive for Georgia Power’s Metro West Region, serving customers in Cobb, Cherokee, Paulding, Douglas counties and parts of Fulton County. Within this 160,000-customer business unit, he oversaw engineering, construction, customer service and external affairs. This business unit’s results were based on a balance scorecard where he consistently ranked number one in the state.
Born and raised in Nashville, Georgia, Mr. Connell is married to the former Pam Cotten of Nashville, TN. They have four children and five grandchildren.
