Taylor English Decisions’ Daraka Satcher Appointed to Fulton County Board of Ethics

ATLANTA, March 24, 2020 – Taylor English Decisions LLC, the government strategies and economic development affiliate of Taylor English Duma LLP, is pleased to announce Daraka Satcher’s appointment to the Fulton County Board of Ethics, a citizen-appointed board composed of seven city residents, effective February 19, 2020. Nominated by the Gate City Bar Association, the oldest African American Bar Association in the State of Georgia, Satcher will serve a three-year term of office. The Board is selected by legal, business, civic, and educational groups.

In this role, Satcher will administer and enforce the Code of Ethics by interpreting the City’s ethical standards through formal advisory opinions, administer the financial disclosure process, investigate ethics complaints, and hold hearings and issues enforcement decisions.

Prior to joining Taylor English Decisions, Satcher served as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Legislative and Intergovernmental Affairs at the U.S. Department of Commerce. In this position, he managed the legislative and intergovernmental operations of the Office of the Secretary and the twelve Commerce bureaus, which includes the International Trade Administration and the Economic Development Administration, and served as a primary advisor to the Secretary of Commerce on legislative strategy and coordination with state and local governments.

Additionally, he also spent close to a decade working in both the U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives, where he served as the first Chief of Staff in Georgia Congressman Hank Johnson’s office.

In addition to his recent Board appointment, Satcher serves on the boards of the Georgia Budget and Policy Institute, Voorhees College, the Georgia District Export Council, the Ghana International Chamber of Commerce, and the advisory board of Skyland Trail, a nationally recognized non-profit mental health treatment organization. Additionally, he serves on Morehouse College’s Andrew Young Global Leadership Center Advisory Board.

A 2014 graduate of Leadership Atlanta, Satcher earned his undergraduate degree from Morehouse College and his law degree from Emory University.  He serves on the college’s Andrew Young Global Leadership Center Advisory.
